Festival of late antiquity
The Festival of Late Antiquity 2023 is a journey back in time to 1,700 years ago. As a guest, you can immerse yourself in the past and get to know the everyday life of the inhabitants of Carnuntum in the 4th century BC.
You will walk through the streets of Carnuntum, take a look into the kitchens or meet a patrol. The festival of late antiquity has no stops, they walk through a lively town where life goes its way.

Reenactor groups participating
The Gentes Danubii show late Roman life in Carnuntum. As traders come Master Knieriem with shoes and leather goods, Isis Noreia with Isis Noreia with late antique jewelry, as well as traders of metal goods and Kourgane offer glass. The Hillebrandt winery pours wine from the Carnuntum region and the Sponner family sells nuts. A Spanish doctor is in town and musicians from the group Ars Serena create a good mood among the residents.
Late antique military show the Lower Austrian Quartodecimani, Herculiani Iuniores and Seniores from France and Czech Republic, Legio Leonum from Hungary and Legio VI Herculia from today's Croatia. The Mos Maiorum group from present-day Bulgaria also represents civil and military life in late antiquity. Numerus Italorum travel to Carnuntum from Italy, as does the group Septimani Seniores from Spain.
Barbarians also made their way to Carnuntum: Germanic groups such as Swarafulk, Nors Farandi, Ostarluiti and the Thuringi from Germany as well as Harjis from present-day Poland are together in search of land on the Danube. They are supported by the group Storrada from Poland. With Invicti Lupi, Longobard family groups from Italy are guests. Also Alamanni from Germany, a few War Chuni from Austria and some Heruls from Denmark come to Carnuntum.
