Kinderfest on 18 and 19 June 2022

In mid-June, the Roman city of Carnuntum turns into the city of children. For an entire weekend, numerous activities await young Roman lovers.

In the living rooms of Romans 2022

On the national holiday Carnuntum invites its visitors to get acquainted with the private everyday life of the Romans in ancient times in the reconstructed city quarter.

Carnuntum App

You can also visually access areas that have been buried underground for a thousand years. Augmented reality brings the past alive by merging the real world with its digital counterpart.

The ISTER Project

Carnuntum is a project partner in the ISTER project (Interreg Danube Transnational Program). The aim of the project is the visualization and revitalization of the ancient road network.

Carnuntum's scientists face-to-face

Franz Humer studied classical archaeology, ancient history and history of art at the Paris-Lodron-University of Salzburg. He has been maintaining close ties with the Roman City Carnuntum for nearly 30 years and was appointed its scientific director in 2001.

Austrian Museum Quality Seal

In 2016, the Roman City Carnuntum was awarded the Austrian Museum Quality Seal. This hallmark is bestowed upon institutions which set themselves apart from others by unrivalled means of museal presentation.

The Roman Leisure Industry in Carnuntum

The latest archeological results brought further spectacular finds to light: A third amphitheatre, unknown until now, and a whole city quarter with taverns, large bakeries and shops, substantiate well-developed leisure infrastructure.
