Visitors information
Dates: September 14-15, 2024
Opening hours on feast days 9.00 to 18.00
The Roman Festival in Carnuntum is the historical event of superlatives! Roman life at its best awaits you, leaving no wish unfulfilled even for loyal regular visitors. An extensive program is offered in the Roman Quarter, so that you can immerse yourself in a world of legions, barbarians and gladiators. The Roman Festival 2023 is also in a league of its own when it comes to price: the admission price is no different to that of a regular day's visit, and the Lower Austrian Card can also be used at the regular conditions.
The program is accompanied by Roman handicrafts, a varied children's program and Roman delicacies.
Roman festival for children
The Roman Festival has proven to be a popular destination for families. This year, for the first time, there is a dedicated activity trail for children - already included in the admission fee - which combines many of the numerous games and craft stations into a shared experience with its own story. Children under 11 years of age have free admission when accompanied by an adult!
Dogs at the Roman festival
Dogs are very welcome in the Roman town of Carnuntum. Due to the provisions of the Lower Austrian Dog Control Act on keeping dogs at events please, however, on a leash and with a muzzle.
Roman cuisine
Also the pleasure should not come too short at the Roman festival! Regional honey, candied nuts, fruit juices and much more can be tasted and purchased. A break from the hustle and bustle of the festival can be particularly enjoyed with a glass of wine from the Carnuntine winegrowers. In addition, food trucks and our museum restaurant "Forum Culinarium" provide excellent catering with regional and Roman dishes.
