For your journey from Vienna to Carnuntum, use the practical and environmentally friendly option of traveling by train. Carnuntum is optimally connected to the public transport network of Vienna by the regional express REX 7. In only 60 minutes you can reach the world of the Romans in Carnuntum stress-free from the center of Vienna. By train

From Vienna

Carnuntum is well connected with Vienna via train.

From Vienna City Center "Wien Mitte - Landstraße" take the Line S7 in direction Wolfsthal.

Departure on working days and weekends at every hour (8.19h, 9.19h, 10.19h etc.).

Get off at the station Petronell-Carnuntum, the ride takes 60 minutes. After a short walk of 15 minutes (follow the signs) you reach the Roman City Carnuntum.

For returning to Vienna you can catch a train every hour as well (9.18h, 10.18h, 11.18h etc.)

The Museum Carnuntinum is located in the next village. Going by train you have to get off at the station Bad Deutsch-Altenburg, from there it's a walk of 20 minutes to reach the Museum.

From Bratislava

Take the regional MHD bus No. 901 from „Nový most“ or „Petržalka/Einsteinova“ to Hainburg a.d. Donau. Change to train S7 in direction of Vienna. Get off at the train station Bad Deutsch Altenburg (Museum Carnuntinum) or Petronell-Carnuntum (Roman City Quarter).

There's a free car park at each venue of the Roman City Carnuntum. Also parking space for buses available.

B9 (Pressburger Bundesstraße, Richtung Hainburg a.d. Donau) to Petronell-Carnuntum or Bad Deutsch-Altenburg

B50 (Burgenland Bundesstraße) in northeastern direction until Neusiedl a. See – change to A4 (in direction of Vienna) - exit Bruck a.d. Leitha OST (in direction of Rohrau, Hainburg a.d. Donau) - B211 (Rohrrauer Bundesstraße) until the diversion to Petronell-Carnuntum or Bad Deutsch Altenburg
