Accessibility at the Roman Festival 2022

Accessibility with wheelchairs

From the parking lot, you can reach the ticket office by wheelchair without barriers, and via asphalt or gravel (paved surface) paths to a central information island in the grounds. From here you have an overview of the Roman Quarter and can experience the interior of the reconstructed houses via a recorded film. The majority of the festival takes place around the Roman houses, this area is a meadow where all the main attractions (gladiators, legionnaires, dancers, ...) can be followed.

In the faithfully reproduced Roman houses there are some partially higher steps and bumps. The Roman road surrounds these houses and is only partially passable with wheelchairs and baby carriages. With the help of mobile ramps (length 208.5 cm, inner width 76 cm, load capacity 350 kg, weight 15.8 kg) the Roman baths and the villa urbana can be easily experienced. These mobile ramps, as well as wheelchairs, are available for your independent use at the ticket office and in the grounds. We kindly ask you to notify us of your needs by telephone, if possible. A disabled toilet is located at the main entrance.

People with visual impairments

A floor guidance system leads from the parking lot to the archaeological area. There you will find a tactile orientation system. All information on the information boards is also in Braille. In addition, a short guide in Braille and large print can be obtained at the cash desk.

People with hearing disabilities

All checkout locations are equipped with mobile induction loops. In the Roman Quarter, on the one hand, the listening stations are equipped with induction loops, and on the other hand, mobile induction devices are also available for guided tours by appointment.
Easy language

A printed short guide in easy language can be obtained in the Roman Quarter.
