Upon arrival you will be greeted with a Roman aperitif in Carnuntum, with Mulsum (Roman spiced wine, spiked with honey), Moretum (Roman herb spread) and Roman bread you will also immediately travel to the world of antiquity in terms of taste. Of course, you can also use non-Roman alternatives such as sparkling wine here.
Afterwards, participants will receive an exclusive guided tour of the Roman Quarter in Carnuntum. When the park has already closed for the rest of the visitors and the red roofs of Carnuntum shine in the evening light of the Pannonian sun, the Roman houses and streets will be opened once again exclusively for you and you will get insights that are otherwise hidden for many eyes.
The tour then ends, appropriately enough, in the villa urbana, a faithfully reconstructed city palace in the Roman Quarter with colorful murals and a spacious banquet hall, where you will also immediately move into your table for the great Roman feast. Indulge in original recipes from Apicius and taste the splendor of Rome. The 5-course menu will be accompanied by a selection of wines from the Carnuntum wine region as well as non-alcoholic beverages. During the meal you will enjoy a musical performance, of course with Roman instruments based on ancient models!
If you can tear yourself away from it, you may take a peek into the kitchen between courses, where the chefs may let you in on a secret or two of Roman cuisine.
