The villa urbana was a stately town house that impressively demonstrates the lifestyle of the upper class in Carnuntum. The staircase flanked with columns that leads to the main entryway attests to the status and self-assurance of the former owner.

Thus far, the splendid public rooms used for representational purposes are the only part of the villa urbana that has been reconstructed. However, the complex as a whole presumably extended to the retaining wall along the road to the south of the premises. More in-depth archaeological studies are being conducted right now in this area.

A notable find was the extensive wall painting covering about 30 m2. After the fragments had been assembled into a more meaningful pattern, the original appearance of the wall painting was finally successfully reconstructed. The splendid result can be admired in the main hall of the villa urbana together with the restored stone semi-dome.
